ABOUT
Early Childhood Education is all about relationship—the relationship between teachers and parents, between school and families. With these in mind Small World 1 creates a positive, welcoming, family oriented learning environment for both parents and children. We provide a comfortable and safe enriched environment for children to experience and become independent individuals. We honor parents as children’s most important educators and keep intensive communication between school and families. Open Houses, Seasonal Celebrations, Newsletters, Quarterly Assessment Report, and Daily Activity Reports are a few of our ways to keep parents informed of their children’s growth and development.

Curriculum
We base our curriculum on Creative curriculum. It aligns with National Early Childhood Education Standards. Teachers use suggestions from these two resources and create developmentally appropriate activities for their classes. Every September an introduction and overview of our curriculum for the coming year will be sent home to parents. Parents of the toddlers will receive a monthly curriculum newsletter. Parents of our preschoolers will receive a weekly curriculum newsletter. Both newsletters explain the theme and suggest activities parents can do at home with their children to reinforce what is learned in class.
Staff
Our teachers are led by our director, Donna Kolberg. She received her Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Development from California State University. She has an AA degree in Child development and 35 years of working experience in the field of early childhood education. During these years she has taught, owned, and directed in the educational field. She likes music, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Our teachers take pride in their profession and are devoted to their students.
